D-BACKS VS BREWERS

The Arizona Diamondbacks will play the Milwaukee Brewers tomorrow morning for the first game of the NLDS. The pitching matchup will be Ian Kennedy for the Diamondbacks and Yovani Gallardo for the Brewers. The game will be played in Milwaukee. This is a good matchup. These two teams are very similar. The Diamondbacks won the season series against the Brewers 3-4. Many people are saying the Diamondbacks are the underdogs, but are we really. The Diamondbacks only have to win one game on the road. The Brewers would have to come to Arizona and steal a game because the Brewers are terrible on the road. So if the Diamondbacks win tomorrow, I predict they will win in 5 games. Only if they win tomorrow. If are starters can go deep into the game then the diamondbacks can just bring in David Hernandez to set up the close for JJ Putz. The Diamondbacks would also need some run support by Justin Upton, Chris Young, and Miguel Montero. So if you ask me, the Diamondbacks in 5.

UPTON, NL MVP?

Can the hot bat of Justin Upton right fielder for the Arizona Diamondbacks win him a NL MVP? He has been tearing it up, but the only people in the way of that MVP award are Matt Kemp center fielder for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Ryan Braun left fielder for the Millwauke Brewers. This is what Justin Upton has done for the Diamondbacks this season AVG. 300. He has HR 25, RBI 77, Runs 80, SB 19. So why not name him MVP you ask, well Upton needs to keep this up for 1 more month if he wants to win his 1st MVP award. So check in a month from now and see if wins the award.

Diamondbacks to AL WEST?

There has been speculation that the Arizona Diamondbacks could move to the AL WEST. If they did move to the American League West, would this be a good or bad thing for the Diamondbacks? Today i'm going to tell you if it is or not. In the AL coaches really don't have to really coach they just wait for a player to hit a home run, while in the NL you have to choose to let your pitcher hit or bunt, and choose to steal. I'm just trying to get at that in the NL you need a strategy unlike the AL. This season the Diamondbacks finally found a strategy that works, so if they move that might mess up there winning record. In the AL the Diamondbacks would have to face teams like the Yankees or RedSox. This is how the AL WEST would look if the DBACKS moved.

AL WEST
___________________

Arizona Diamondbacks

Texas Rangers

Los Angeles Angels

Oakland Athletics

Seattle Mariners
___________________

The only team that might be a task to beat would be the Rangers. I could predict the Diamondbacks winning this division. But on the other hand the Diamondbacks could win the NL WEST to. So would it be a good thing for the Diamondbacks move to the AL WEST?

2011 MLB MOCK DRAFT, TOP 15

Well you guys probably thought I would be talking about the NBA Finals, but you are just going to have to wait. The MLB Draft is in 5 days so I wanted to give you the top 15 teams and prospects. Who will draft who? Here you go.

1. Pittsburgh Pirates - Gerrit Cole, RHP, UCLA; Cole is arguably the best player in the draft. I think the Pirates will draft him.

2. Seattle Mariners - Anthony Rendon, 3B, Rice; The Mariners would love to draft Rendon, he will be the best player available. He will also rack in some runs when you need him to, he can also be a golden glove player.

3. Arizona Diamondbacks - Danny Hultzen, LHP, Virgina; The Diamondbacks tried to draft him 3 years ago but he decided to stay Virgina, but if the DBACKS draft him this year they will get a guy who can boost up there pitching rotation.

4. Baltimore Orioles - Sonny Gray, RHP, Vanderbilt; Some people might have the Orioles drafting Trevor Bauer but I think Gray is more prepared for the MLB.

5. Kansas City Royals - Alex Meyer, RHP, Kentucky; Meyer has little bit of control problems but the Royals lost Zack Greinke and they need somebody to replace him so I think they will take a risk and go after him.

6. Washington Nationals - Trevor Bauer, RHP, UCLA; Bauer will fit perfectly along side Stephen Strausburgh

7. Arizona Diamondbacks (Loux - unsigned) - Dylan Bundy, RHP, Owasso (Okla.) HS; He might be coming out of High School but he doesn't throw like a kid when he hits 98 mph on the gun. If the Diamondbacks draft Hultzen and Bundy they will have two pitching aces that will both have great careers.

8. Cleveland Indians - Bubba Starling, OF, Gardner - Edgarton (Kan.) HS; Bubba Starling is another High School player but he can help Grady Sizemore out in the out field.

9. Chicago Cubs - Matt Barnes, RHP, UConn; No he is not the basketball player, he is the college pitcher who throw a mean fastball, curveball, and slider. If the Cubs want a pitcher this is there guy.

10. San Diego Padres (Whitson - unsigned) - Fransisco Lindor, SS, Montverede (Fla.) Academy; He is the best infielder in the draft, he is 17 and the Padres want a guy for cheap, Lindor is what they want.

11. Houston Astros - Cory Spangenberg, SS, Indian River State College (Fla.); The Astros would want the best infielder in the draft but the second isn't so bad either.

12. Milwaukee Brewers - George Springer , OF, Connecticut; Springer can leran from Ryan Braun and help him out in the long run.

13. New York Mets - Taylor Jungman, RHP, Texas; The Mets could use a pitcher. Jungman can bring a mid-90's fastball to the table. He might be 6'6" but he has good control. The Mets could use him.

14. Florida Marlins - Archie Bradley, RHP, Broken Arrow (Okla.) HS; Archie can learn from Josh Johnson. Archie did get scholarship to play football at Oklahoma,  but that will not stop the Marlins from  pursuing him.

15. Milwaukee Brewers (Covey - unsigned) - Joe Ross, RHP, Bishop O'Dowd (Calif.) HS; WOW! You are probably saying another High School player but, Yes. Joe Ross is another High School player but he is just one of the guys who is overrated, that is why I put him at 15 instead of the top 10.

Thanks for reading, those were my predictions.

Worst to First

Well first of all I would like to say Happy Memorial Day. Today I am going to be talking about the Arizona Diamondbacks. They started the season out worst in there division but now they have surged to the top of the NL West. Ever since the San Fransisco Giants lost Buster Posey for the season, they have dropped a couple of games. The Diamondbacks might have to thank Scott Cousins for that. One of the main reasons for the Diamondbacks success is there pitching. They will even get better now that Zach Duke has returned. The DBACKS will try and go for the 7th straight win against the Florida Marlins. It will be a tough task to keep that lead in the NL West ahead of the defending World Series Champions, the Giants. So do you guys think the Arizona Diamondbacks can make the Playoffs, or even win the NL West? Thanks for reading Adam's Point of View.

ADAM'S MLB POWER RANKINGS: TOP 15

1. INDIANS (29-15) ; The Indians have had a outstanding year. They deserve #1.

2. GIANTS (27-19) ; The Giants are looking like they might go to the World Series one more time. They are on top of the NL WEST.

3. PHILLIES (28-18) ; The Phillies pitching rotation is proving that they are a force to be reckoned with.

4. CARDINALS (28-20) ; Everybody thought that the Cardinals would have a horrible season because Albert Pujols started the season out slow, but they have leaped to the #4 in the MLB.

5. YANKEES (25-20) ; The Yankees have been rolling, Curtis Granderson has put the team on his shoulders and kept them in the top 5 teams in the league.

6. MARLINS (26-19) ; The Marlins have swam to #6 in the MLB. They are playing great baseball.

7. RAYS (26-21) ; The Rays are stinging the baseball. They might have lost Carlos Pena and Carl Crawford but they look like they are just fine.

8. RED SOX (25-21) ; The Red Sox started out slow but they made a there way back to #8. They still have some work to do.

9. REDS (25-22) ; The Reds started the season great but now they are starting to cool down. Brandon Phillips and Joey Votto need to show up.

10. BRAVES (26-23) ; The Braves are decent but I would not even include them in these power rankings if was not for there record.

11. RANGERS (24-23) ; I think we all expected the Rangers to do better then this. They went to the World Series last year, but they are playing like they didn't make the playoffs at all last year.

12. BREWERS (24-23) ; Well Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder have not had great season like we all expected but they have kept the Brewers over 500.

13. D-BACKS (23-23) ; Nobody ever thought the Diamondbacks would even be mentioned in any power rankings. The D-Backs have been on a roll. They can be 2nd in there division if they win this upcoming series against the Rockies.

14. ROCKIES (23-22) ; You guys thought that the Rockies should be at least ahead of the Diamondbacks. I put the Rockies at #14 because they are playing average baseball. They started the season out #1 in the MLB if I am correct. Now they can fall to 3rd in the NL WEST if they lose there upcoming series against the Diamondbacks.

15. BLUE JAYS (23-23) ; Last on Adam's list is the Canada Kids, the Blue Jays are doing good enough to make my list. Jose Bautista has carried this team with his 18 homers which leads the league. The Blue Jays might even make the playoffs.

THUNDER!

Well with speculations of the world ending and a zombie apocalypse, I think you guys forgot something called the NBA Playoffs. Well that is why I am here to remind you of last night's game. The Oklahoma Thunder played the Dallas Mavericks. The final score was 106-100. Kevin Durant started to catch fire during the end of the game. But Russell Westbrook was benched for the whole 4th quarter. The move was shocking, the Thunder still were able to pull out the win and bring the series to 1-1. So who do you guys think will win the series?

Lebron takes 4th quarter over?

What? Yes you heard Lebron James took the game over and showed up in the 4th quarter. He started knocking down shots. The Heat went on a 11-2 run to win the game 85-75. So the question is can Lebron become a closer like Kobe Bryant. I think Lebron has a on and off switch when he is motivated he will turn that switch on. It is as simple as that, Lebron is motivated to win this series. He is going to start turning that switch on. So after hearing that do you think the Bulls can still win this series?

Who will the Phoenix Suns draft?

Well today I am going to tell you who I think the Phoenix Suns might draft. Well there is the possibility that Jimmer Fredette PG - BYU to the Suns, but will the Utah Jazz let that happen? The Jazz will want to take Jimmer because he is a local star, but if they do not draft him the Suns will draft him for sure. The reason why the Suns will draft him is because they traded PG Goran Dragic to the Houston Rockets for PG Aaron Brooks. Brooks did not finish the season out very good with the Suns and PG Steve Nash is getting older so he needs more help. The Suns will also want to draft SG/SF Joradn Hamilton he can bring size and he still can score. He will help out aging SF Grant Hill. Well now I am going to tell the pros and cons of the two prospects. Jimmer can shoot but thats all. Nash will have to teach him to be better at dribbling and passing. Jordan Hamilton will rack in a lot of points but he will not fit in. The Suns already have SG Jared "The Junkyard Dog" Dudley and SF Grant "over the" Hill. The Suns do not need another big man they have PF Hakim Warrick, C Marcin Gortat, C Robin Lopez, C Garret Siler, and PF Channing Frye. Hamilton might not be a PF or C but he will still slow down the offense. So who the Suns will draft, were just going to have to wait.

So Far So Good

So last week I told you that the Thunder and Heat would be the NBA Finals matchup. Well so far so good. The Lakers lost and Thunder are 1 game away from advancing to the Western Conference Finals. The Heat beat the Celtics and they will play the Bulls in the Eastern Conference Finals. So if the Thunder can win the series against the Grizzlies they will play the Mavericks. I might be wrong and this will be another Heat vs Mavericks finals matchup like in 2006. But I am still going take the Thunder to beat the Grizzlies and Mavericks to advance to the NBA Finals. The Heat won't give the Bulls a chance. I predict the series is going to be 4-2 Heat. Think about it, would the Bulls even be in the playoffs if they didn't have MVP Derrick Rose? No they would not. So that is why I am going to stick with the Heat vs Thunder in the NBA Finals. The Heat are just to good and they will beat the young Thunder to win the NBA Championship. If you disagree then comment below and tell me why. Click like if you agree. Thanks for reading another article of Adam's Point of View.

NBA Playoff Predictions

Who I think will be the NBA Champion.

                NBA FINALS

           THUNDER VS HEAT

The Heat will be NBA Champions.

This will be a good matchup. The Thunder will
be out to prove they are not just a expansion team.
The Heat will be out to prove that 3 stars can work
together to win a NBA Championship. I can see this
series going to a game 7. The Heat also known as
the Heatles will show there rock star mentality and beat the Thunder in a close game 7. I am not just saying that because they have Lebron James, Dwayne Wade, and Chris Bosh. I am saying that because the Heat are hungry for a NBA title. The definition for title town should now be called Miami.

Patrick Peterson drafted by Arizona Cardinals

Well the Arizona Cardinals used the 5th pick in the draft on CB Patrick Peterson / LSU. You would have thought the Cardinals would have traded there pick or drafted QB Blaine Gabbert / Mizzou, but no, the Cardinals drafted one of the best players in the draft. I am happy with there pick, now CB Dominque Rodgers-Cromartie and KR Larod Stephens-Howling can get some help.
Well because I cant explain how athletic and skilled he is I am just going to have to show you. Watch the video below of this beast. Enjoy.

1# Pick in the 2011 NFL Draft

On April 28, 2011 at about 8 p.m.  ET, the commissioner, Roger Goodell will say " With the 1st pick in the 2011 NFL draft, the Carolina Panthers select"? Well today I am going to talk to you guys about the 1# pick in the draft. Many people think that the Panthers are going to go with a safe pick with QB Blaine Gabbert out of Missouri. I think they will select QB Cam Newton out of Auburn. Cam Newton was the Heisman winner, he works great in the pocket, and he has great accuracy. The Panthers are not looking for a safe pick, they are looking for a franchise player and Cam can be that guy. Thanks for reading, and you just experienced Adam's Point of View.

Arizona upsets Duke!

Yes, you heard it, the wild Wildcats from the west beat the Dukies. The Wildcats came into this game off two close wins against Memphis and Texas. Duke came into this game looking to return to the elite eight and to welcome back freshman PG Kyrie Irving. The underdog in my eyes was Arizona, or should I say the undercat. Well anyways like I was saying before I said that bad pun, Duke vs Arizona, The Blue Devils came out "WINNING" like Charlie Sheen would say and Arizona started out slow and trailed 44-38 to Duke at the half. In the second half Derrick Williams PF put it on Duke. Williams finished the game with 32 points and Arizona went on to upset Duke. Arizona had to Bear-Down to win this game. The final score was 93-77 Arizona. Looks like coach K could not get his 901th career win. I'm sorry Grant Hill but the Wildcats mauled the Blue Devils. Arizona will play on saturday, when they take on Kemba Walker and  the UCONN Huskies. Thanks for reading APV fans.

2011 NBA Lottery Mock Draft

I know you guys are probably wondering why I am talking about the NBA draft, well I just thought you guys are tired of the NFL labor negotiations and the NFL draft. So here is my 2011 NBA lottery mock draft.

1. Cleveland Cavaliers - Derrick Williams, PF, Arizona - Derrick Williams is no-doubt the best player in the Pac-10, he can also knock down some threes, play defense, and averages 19.7 ppg.

2. Minnesota Timberwolves - Jared Sullinger, PF, Ohio State - The T-wolves would love to have him he averages 18 ppg, and 9.9 rpg, he is also a candidate for National player of the year.

3. Sacramento Kings - Perry Jones, PF, Baylor - Perry Jones is PF but he can also play a bit of center. He averages 14.3 ppg, and the Kings would love to have Perry Jones along side Demarcus Cousins.

4. Toronto Raptors - Kyrie Irving, PG, Duke - He averages 17.4 ppg, 5.1 assists, and 3.8 rpg, the Raptors need a PG and this is the guy for them.

5. Washington Wizards - Terrence Jones, PF, Kentucky - He is a freshman but he still puts up 17.9 ppg and 9.1 rpg in the brutal SEC East. The Wizards would like John Wall to feed this big fella.

6. New Jersey Nets - Enes Kanter, Center, Kentucky - He has great strength, he is 6'11, and he can learn behind Brook Lopez.

7. Detroit Pistons - Kemba Walker, PG, Connecticut - His size might be a issue but he averages 22.9 ppg and he I think he can carry Kemba Mania to the NBA.

8. Los Angeles Clippers - Jonas Valanciunas, Center, Lietovus Rytas - He is only 18 years old but he is 6'11 and the Clippers would like to have him in there farm system and let him develop some more.

9. Milwuake Bucks - Harrison Barnes, SF, North Carolina - Barnes is probably the most ready for the NBA in the whole NCAA. He averages 13.4 ppg. He can help the Bucks defense and make other NBA teams '' Fear the Dear''.

10. Charlotte Bobcats - Marcus Morris, PF, Kansas - Morris averages 17.1 ppg, 6.9 rpg, 1.4 assists, 0.6 blocks and 0.8 steals a game. Marcus Morris is also a big reason why Kansas was successful this season. He will make the Bobcats forget all about Gerald Wallace.

11. Houston Rockets - Chris Singleton, SF, Florida State - Chris Singleton can defense that is ridiculous. The only problem with him is that he fractured his foot on February 12.

12. Golden State Warriors - Tyler Honycutt, SF, UCLA - He is a good post player and he averages 12.7 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. Honeycutt can also play guard because his ball handling is so good.

13. Phoenix Suns - Jimmer Fredette, PG, BYU - Once Steve Nash is gone there going to need a PG and Jimmer looks like he can be the Suns next PG. Jimmer leads the country in scoring but he needs to work on his defense.

14. Memphis Grizzlies - Jordan Hamilton, SF, Texas - Hamilton is one the main reasons why Texas had a good season. Hamilton will not be a bust pick like Hasheem Thabeet.

15. Indiana Pacers - Brandon Knight, PG, Kentucky - Knight can finally give the Pacers the PG they never had. He averages 17.4 points per game. He would be a perfect fit for the Pacers.

NFL Draft Quarterbacks Projections

In this Article I will be talking about where I see the Top Quarterbacks will most likely headed to on draft day.

Blaine Gabbert
Likely Pick: 1.04 – Bengals

The Bengals are between a rock and a hard place. On one hand, they need to use the pick in another position but with Carson Palmer threatening (and sounding awfully serious about it) to never set foot in their stadium again, their hand is being forced. The choice comes down to Gabbert and Newton and while Newton is a better prospect for starting day one, Gabbert has more long term potential and fits the offensive mold of the Bengals rather well. That all said, the Bengals have always taken players of questionable character and I believe they turned the page on that chapter and going to grab Gabbert not Newton.

The Cardinals need QB help as well but are intrigued by what Skelton offers longer term. Skelton should not be the opening day QB and Arizona is likely to look at established veterans like Kolb to take the role for at least part of 2011. Carolina doesn’t know enough about Clausen yet in my mind to make a Gabbert or Newton their #1 choice. Defensive minded head coach Ron Rivera will likely be looking to replace the departed (2010) impact of Julius Peppers on the DL.

Next Likely: 1.05 – Cardinals
No Later: 1.10 – Redskins
Surprise: 1.01 – Panthers

Cam Newton
Likely Pick: 1.07 – 49′ers

There is no hotter draft discussion topic than the prospects for Auburn’s Cam Newton. On one hand, you have a one-year phenom who completed more than 66% of his passes in a down-field passing offense while showing notable mobility, arm strength and leadership. On the other, you have an athlete whose on-field abilities are eclipsed only by his own ego and opinion of himself. The mixture is very risky to take a guy like Cam so early in the draft.

Newton’s skills project as a day-one starter as well as any drafted QB in the recent past. In 2011, numerous teams have an immediate starting need. You want your quarterback to have leadership ability, confidence and even a swagger, but there’s a fine line between confidence and entitlement.

My view on Newton is that he’s worth the risk for a team that has an immediate starting QB need. Accuracy is the most importance on my list of abilities and Newton has a decent amount of it. His mechanics are relatively sound and as a mobile QB, I like that while scrambling in the backfield, his eyes are down the field. He has great moves and a solid base providing for great balance and power. If his head is on straight, he’s a clear #1 choice without question. That not being the case, it’s a question of maturity and ego vs. confidence. I take that risk, but not in the top 4 or 5 picks in the draft.

I very much like the fit for new coach Harbaugh in San Francisco and fully believe that if Newton is on the board at 1.07, his name will be called. Carolina might still take the risk in Newton at first overall but the jury in Carolina is still riding the horse of the strong-armed and similarly cocky Jimmy Clausen. With new coach Ron Rivera in town, I believe Clausen will be given another year of development. Cincinnati remains a possibility but the team needs a face for the franchise after Palmer and can’t afford a big ego. Arizona remains a slight possibility but I don’t see a character fit. Daniel Snyder would be all over Newton at 1.10.

Next Likely: 1.10 – Redskins
No Later: 1.10 – Redskins
Surprise: 1.01 – Panthers

Jake Locker
Likely Pick: 1.25 – Seahawks

I don’t like the pick, nor do I like Locker in the first round. But until Coach Carroll calls me for my opinion, I have to believe that he’ll be going to Seattle. There are just too many connections here and Locker does contain good skills including arm strength, mobility and character. What he doesn’t have is tremendous size or accuracy. Lacking accuracy, the decision to draft Locker comes down to the ego of the head coach as to whether he believes that his staff can develop that which has not yet been displayed.

Hasselbeck is certain to be in his last year as a Seahawk and the expensive gamble on Charlie Whitehurst did not pay off. Seattle must bring in a QB this year and their late selection likely means they need to do it in the first round. I like Kaepernick better than Locker, but not at this pick.

Many experts believe that Locker will be off the board by Seattle’s pick.

Next Likely: 2.02 – Bills
No Later: 2.09 – Redskins
Surprise: 1.10 – Redskins

Colin Kaepernick
Likely Pick: 2.02 – Bills

Kaepernick raised his stock at the combine by doing well in all drills. A well built, tall and strong armed passer, Buffalo will be hard pressed to let Kaepernick slide unless they jumped at the chance to draft Gabbert or Newton at 1.03. Kaepernick likely has one of the top two arms of the QB class and displayed better than expected speed with a 4.53 40-yard dash. Always one to like mobility, Bills head coach Chan Gailey will like what Kaepernick offers across the board and at a reasonable value in the 2nd round.

QB, Ryan Fitzpatrick was a pleasant surprise in 2010 but that won’t stop Buffalo looking for a young passer with upside. Kaepernick fits the bills

Next Likely: 2.06 – Cardinals
No Later: 2.25 – Seahawks
Surprise: 3rd Round

Ryan Mallett
Likely Pick: 2.09 – Redskins

Shanahan has always loved a project and a project with a rocket arm and pocket presence. Shanahan doesn’t shy away from character concerns and has an ego to match Mallett’s arm. The Skins are in need of a face of the franchise and departing QB Donovan McNabb leaves a huge hole to fill. With the two big names likely off the board by their first round selection, I dont believe that Locker will still be on the board this late in the draft.

There is no questioning Mallett’s on-field production or ability. But significant questions remain about his maturity, off the field issues and decision making. As Rich Eisen said on the Dan Patrick show, Mallett “…has more red flags than a carnival”. Shanahan’s success with quarterbacks is unquestioned and the match is an intriguing one. I’m looking for Mallett to be the starter in Washington early in 2011.

Next Likely: 2.07 – Titans
No Later: 2.25 – Seahawks
Surprise: 2.02 – Bills

Christian Ponder
Likely Pick: 3.05 – Cardinals

Ponder isn’t in my top five, but that doesn’t mean that the needs of teams early in the second round could necessitate an earlier selection than he would otherwise be. I still believe that Ponder is a 3rd round passer and that Arizona will be rewarded by not over-drafting other names in the first or second rounds. I’m still fully expecting Arizona to bring in a veteran passer either through free agency or via trade, but should that not happen, Ponder is a legitimate up-side quarterback in the third round.

I’m also not buying much of the information coming out that Ponder is greatly on the rise on draft boards. He’s a good kid with a very nice short to intermediate range game, but doesn’t have a big arm and doesn’t leap off the page. But he has the character, work ethic and mechanics to be selected relatively highly. He’d be a good fit with Whisenhut in Arizona

Next Likely: 3.12 – 49′ers
No Later: 3.15 – Dolphins
Surprise: 2.06 – Cardinals

There's no Will Smith or giant mechanical spider in this Wild, Wild, West... but there is a ridiculously awesome beard.

Sorry folks i promised the AL Central as my next breakdown but at the request of my "boss" i'm going to be changing it up and instead today's breakdown will be about the NL West. So let's get started...

National League West

2010 Final Standings: 1) San Francisco Giants: 92-70
                                    2) San Diego Padres: 90-72
                                    3) Colorado Rockies: 83-79
                                    4) Los Angeles Dodgers: 80-82
                                    5) Arizona Diamondbacks: 65-97

2011 Division Rundown:
> San Francisco Giants- the giants had a remarkable season last year, one they capped of by winning the world series over the texas rangers. this team is built on pitching and boy do they have some great arms. a lot of the attention this offseason has gone to the staff in philadelphia (which was expected after coming out of nowhere to sign cliff lee, but back to the giants). these young guns are out to prove that they are still the most formidable staff in the bigs. led by 2-time cy young winner tim lincecum, the rest of the staff of the rotation is comprised of fireballers matt cain, madison bumgarner, and jonathan sanchez. add veteran barry zito to the backend to provide some leadership and these guys look great, on paper. lets turn to offense for a second now, the team returns NL rookie of the year buster posey, and other catalysts aubrey huff, andres torres, and postseason hero cody ross. they also look for big years from pablo sandoval and miguel tejada. i've talked about the offense and the starting rotation but i cant my analysis without talking about the guys brings it all together, the closer brian wilson. this guy is a character, he has that closer's mentality and every night he pitches he channels his inner ricky "wild thing" vaughn (hard throwing rookie pitcher played by charlie sheen in the movie Major League) except with a whole lot better control. he has one of the the hardest fastballs out there and not to mention a devastating slider.
>>>Prediction: 91-71. 1st in the division. i see this pitching staff leading this team back to the playoffs and a possible 2nd consecutive world series. the offense isn't great but they should be well above average as long as the hitters do what they're expected to do. the only concern i have is the 4 young guys in the rotation threw a lot of innings last year and that includes the postseason, and it'll be interesting to see if it took a toll on their arms. as long as they can hold a lead into the late innings they should be fine, because the previously mentioned brian wilson WILL come in and lock it down.

>San Diego Padres- san diego surprised almost everyone last year by winning 90 games. the pitching staff is young but they proved last year that they can win at the big league level. they also return all they key contributors from that staff, mat latos, clayton richard, and heath bell. last year offensively they were so-so. at first glance you would say they would be terrible this year because they lost their punch in adrian gonzalez in a trade with the red sox. But if you take another look you'll see that they improved even with sending gonzalez away. they traded for shortstop jason bartlett and signed 2nd baseman orlando hudson (one of my personal favorites) to help sure up their defense up the middle and both guys are solid hitters. they also signed veterans brad hawpe and jorge cantu to add a little more offense.
>>>prediction: 83-79. 4th in division. i just don't see them repeating the sam success they had last year. i like the moves they made but it wont be enough to get a division crown this year. the pitching staff needs  maybe one more piece, perhaps a starter, and the offense needs to add some more production in the outfield before they can win this division.

>Colorado Rockies- the rockies are a great team... offensively. they have a lineup thats boasts superstars carlos gonzalez and troy tulowitzki in the middle of it. not to mention todd helton playing first base and ian stewart over at third. like i said theres no questions with this team offensively. pitching wise its a whole different story. sure ubaldo jimenez is there and he had a insane first half last year plus he is a cy young candidate, but after that you're looking at guys like jhoulys chacin, jorge de la rosa, and jason hammel. i say there slightly below average but they do have potential to be solid starters. they're going to need them to be if they want any chance at the playoffs. another thing to be weary of is the rockies typical slow start, which seems to happen every year. even though they start slow the rockies are also known for their later surge the past few seasons. over the past few years they are among the best second half teams in the whole league.
>>>prediction: 90-72. 2nd in division. i knew i called the pitching suspect but that's only because they are unproven for the most part. and as long as they can overcome a slow start and finish the season on strong push then i have them fighting for both the division crown and the wild card spot. this team has all the makings of a dangerous ballclub and they are poised and ready to make run at the frontrunner giants.

>Los Angeles Dodgers- the dodgers enter this spring with a slightly new look, there's no manny (which means no more mannywood), former all-star catcher russell martin is gone, and joe torre retired and gave the managerial duties to his former bench coach don mattingly. with the talent on this team i feel as if last year was just an apparition. they are much too talented to go 80 and 82. clayton kershaw is a solid and legit number 1 starter. his best games last year were against top competition, he beat ubaldo jimenez twice including a 1-0 game in which he had the 1 RBI. chad billingsley is another sold arm in the rotation as is hiroki kuroda and the bullpen is deadly with some of the most live (meaning they throw really really hard) arms in the majors, guys like hung-chi kuo and big jonathan broxton. they also have guys that can swing the bat. andre ethier had a stellar year and james loney is very reliable. they added world champ juan uribe to play 2nd (and short and 3rd too) and brought in rod barajas and dioner navarro to do the catching. the one big question on everyone's mind though when they talk about the dodgers is whether or not matt kemp is finally going to reach his potential or have another dismal season like last year. the guy probably has the best tools on the team but after a great 2009 season, he gad a horrible year last year and looks to rebound. i see a big year from him, he's coming into camp more focused and understanding if the club wants to be successful then they need him to be successful as well.
>>>prediction: 85-77. 3rd in the division. they'll have a bounce back year but it still wont be enough to take the division, at least not yet that is. ethier is going to produce again and kemp will help stabilize this team and lead them to a few more wins. watch for kershaw to push for a cy young this year because he will great. they'll figure some things out this year with their new additions and i look for a possible return they playoffs... next year.

>Arizona Diamondbacks- last but not least i get to the one that i'm guessing you all were waiting for. out hometown d-backs. now don't get me wrong i'm a hometown guy and love our d-backs but it's just not going to happen this year. new GM kevin towers cam in and cleaned the organization up a little bit. he shipped fan favorite mark reynolds to baltimore for young bullpen help in david hernandez and kam mickolio. he also brought in a bunch of veterans, j.j putz to close, melvin mora and geoff blum to share time at 3rd base, juan miranda to battle for time at 1st base, xavier nady to come in and play left field, and KT signed catcher henry blanco and utility man willie bloomquist to also add some leadership to the clubhouse. oh he brought in a couple of starting pitchers, armando galarraga and zach duke to try and help sure up the rotation. there are some studs returning like: starting pitcher daniel hudson (great 2010 after he was acquired from the white sox), shortstop stephen drew (always solid both at the plate and in the field), 2nd baseman kelly johnson (looks to build on his 2010 success), center fielder chris young(all-star season last year, looking to continue that) and right fielder justin upton (after a bad year in 2010 he looks to regain his 2009 all-star form). oh and folks before we start to say we need to get rid of justin let me remind you he is only 23 and most guys aren't even in the bigs until they're 24-25 and most don't hit they're prime until they're 27-28 so give him some time because we're going to need him.
>>>prediction: 73-89. 5th in division. it pains me to admit it but lets be realistic. are the d-backs in a position to contend this year? sure but it's really unlikely. are they setting things up to contend in a a couple of years? absolutely. the reconstruction of the bullpen will pay off this which will lead to an increased win total, which is about all we have took forward to. well that and justing upton putting it together and having a good season. also look for mid to late season call-up for top prospect jarrod parker.  this kid is a stud and his knocking on the door to the big leagues so he should be here sooner rather than later. in the midst of another down, but improving season, be sure to keep an eye on the draft in june. its a big one for the diamondbacks because this years draft is loaded with talent and potential superstars, and the d-backs will have the 3rd and 7th picks so they are going to have to make sure they take the best players to help the franchise out.

that's it today. hope you enjoyed it. look for next time where i'll go over the AL Central as i promised before. well unless my "editor" has another request :)

Kevin Garnett a dirty player?

Today I will be talking about Kevin Garnett Power Forward from the Boston Celtics and why I think he is a dirty player. If you watch this video below then you will see why I think he is a dirty player. If you watched this video then you saw Kevin Garnett hit Channing Frye Power Forward from the Phoenix Suns in the groin. I think this was on purpose because the Celtics were down by 11 points with 4 minutes in the 4th quarter. Garnett probably hit him below the belt because he wanted to stop Frye from hitting some more 3-pointers. Then later in the video Channing Frye gets up and starts yelling in Garnett's face, the reason I say he didn't back down is because today Frye told reporters “There’s certain things you just don’t do and he just overstepped that boundary twice. It is what it is. There’s nothing else I can say about it. What am I going to do, slap him on the hand or tell him don’t do that? That’s just how he plays. Everybody knows that. I think you can look at how many people have complained about him. It’s not like it’s just me. I don’t take it personal. He just wants his team to win and feels like he has to do that to make them win.” Frye later on said “People just aren’t afraid of him”. So Garnett and Frye will face off again tonight at 5:30 pm, when the Phoenix Suns try to sweep the season series against the Boston Celtics.

breakdown

hey folks, today i'll breakdown what is by far the most brutal division in the MLB: the american league east.

Eastbound.... and UP
2010 final standings: 1) Tampa Bay Rays: 96-66 (division winner)
                                  2) New York Yankees: 95-67 (wild card winner)
                                  3) Boston Red Sox: 89-73
                                  4) Toronto Blue Jays: 85-77
                                  5) Baltimore Orioles: 66-96

2011 outlooks:
>Tampa Bay Rays- the rays retooled this offseason. they lost some big time production players from last season; carl crawford (boston), carlos pena (chicago cubs), rafael soriano (new york yankees), joaquin benoit (detroit), and traded shortstop jason bartlett (san diego) and starting picher matt garza (cubs) to cut costs. they still have the cornerstone of the franchise in evan longoria playing 3rd base and they still have a very solid rotation of david price, james shields, jeremy hellickson, and jeff niemann. this team is going to have to rely on young players, such as reid brignac and desmond jennings, to play to their potential. the rays did make a couple of interesting moves bringing in veterans manny ramirez and johnny damon, reuniting a couple of the "idiots" from the 04 red sox.

>> 2011 prediction for the rays: 84-78. 3rd in the division, not a great year but not a horrible one either. i really like the prospects in this organization but with all the loses they had this past offseason its hard to envision them making a lot of noise in this brutal division. they lost key pieces from their great bullpen of last year and i see this years bullpen blowing a lot of late leads.

>New York Yankees- this offseason the yankees were up to their old tricks in pursuing the top free agents available, cliff lee and carl crawford. but in a very surprising fashion lost out on both of them. the one big move they did make was bringing rafeal soriano, last years allstar closer for the rays, to come in as the 8th inning setup man for the always dominant mariano rivera. the yanks also resigned captain derek jeter after a bit of a dispute. these guys have some question marks in their rotation. yes c.c sabathia was a 20 game winner last year but aside from him and phil hughes, coming off a breakout season, there is a lot of uncertainty. andy pettitte is gone (retirement) and a.j burnett has been unpredictable lately, ivan nova seems like he'll be part of the starting 5 but he is unproven and there is no clear cut #5 guy. the only other position in question is catcher where it is a battle between newly acquired russell martin and spark-plug francisco cervelli. prospect jesus montero is also competing for the backup spot if not push for the starting nod. jorge posada is still here but he is making a permanent move the the DH role.

> >2011 prediction for the yanks: 90-72. 2nd place in division. the rotation like i mentioned is a huge question mark but with this offense and the guys in the back end of the bullpen all the starters have to do is not get lit up like christmas trees. these guys should make a push for the wildcard again this year.

>Boston Red Sox- wow, what an offseason for the bo-sox. not only did they sign carl crawford to play left field, they also traded for perennial all star adrian gonzalez. there were a couple of major losses boston though, victor martinez (detroit) and adrian beltre (texas) to free agency. this lineup is loaded with MVP candidates, and the starting rotation is extremely talented with jon lester, clay buchholz, josh beckett, and john lackey. they added bobby jenks to help bolster a bullpen that includes fireballers daniel bard and jonathan papelbon. kevin youkillis will slide to 3rd base to make room from gonzalez and jacoby ellsbury will move back to center so crawford can play against the green monster in fenway park. only question that i have is, who's catching? looks like their going to go with jarrod saltalamacchia starting and jason varitek backing him up.

>>2011 bo-sox prediction: 99-63. 1st in division. as long as everyone on this team does what they are known to do, which is dominate, then they should find themselves battling for a world series title.  enough said.

>Toronto Blue Jays- the blue jays were a huge surprise last year. the offense put up ridiculous power numbers. --side note: saw them play here in AZ last year, and before the game our very own Nate "the fantasy guru" Gomez told me, "watch i bet they hit at least 5 bombs (homeruns for those of you that dont speak baseball) today"... sure enough the jays belted 5 homers that day-- the one guy who did a lot of damage by himself was jose batutista who smashed a MLB leading 54 big flies! (also another word for homerun) the offense looks to duplicate the offensive output they had last season while the pitching staff looks to put things together. they lost ace shaun marcum (traded to brewers) and the young guns look to prove themselves in the big leagues. ricky romero is set to lead this young staff and watch out for prospect kyle drabek to put up some numbers this year.

>>2011 blue jays prediction: 82-80. 4th in division. i doubt these guys can put up the same type of offensive numbers, but they do have some young hitters that can really swing the bat. i am very suspect of the entire pitching staff but that's only because their young and unproven, but they have big potential.

>Baltimore Orioles- the o's had probably the busiest offseason in the league this year. they added a few big time players to a very talented core group of guys. baltimore traded for local fan favorite mark reynolds and j.j hardy. they also brought in derrek lee, vladimir guerrero, and justin duchscherer via free agency. add these veterans to guys like brian matusz, adam jones, nick markakis, matt wieters, brian roberts and the o's should be much more competitive then years past.

>>2011 prediction for the o's: 74-88. 5th place in division. yes they'll finish last but lets be real they play in the A.L east where wins will be hard to come by. but manager buck showalter certainly is changing the mindset here. he has the youngsters playing hard all the time and it's great to see. these guys will be big time players in this division... just not this year, maybe in a couple of years.

>stay tuned for next time when i breakdown the american league central for you

2011 NBA ALL-STAR WEEKEND

This year NBA All-Star weekend was held in Los Angeles, California. All of the stars were out to see a of sports fabulous weekend. First off I am not going to talk about Justin Bieber winning the MVP award at  the celebrity game, I am just going to say the the game was entertaining and Scottie Pippen should have won the MVP award. The following night was All-Star saturday night, were they had the 3-point shootout which James Jones SF for the Miami Heat beat Ray Allen and Paul Pierce in the final round of the 3-point shootout. The next event was the skills challenge were Stephen Curry PG for the Golden State Warriors beat Russell Westbrook from the Oklahoma City Thunder in the final round. Now probably the reason you are still reading this article is because you want to hear about the Sprite Slam dunk contest well here you go. The contestants who were in the dunk contest were Serge Ibaka PF from the Oklahoma City Thunder, Javale McGee Center from the Washington Wizards, Demar Derozan SG/SF from the Toronto Raptors, and last but not least Blake Griffin PF from the Los Angeles Clippers. Well Serge Ibaka jumped from behind the free throw line unlike Dr. J or Joran, in the first round. Javale McGee dunked to balls on to different courts. Blake Griffin jumped over a car as you can see on the left . I think Javale McGee and Blake Griffin should have got one more dunk each because its hard to say who should have won. Now to the All-Star game the West beast the East 148-143 and Kobe was the games MVP. Thanks for reading.

NFL DRAFT TOP 5 Running Backs

Top 5 Running Backs

  1. The Number one Running back in this years NFL Draft is Mark Ingram from Alabama. Mark Ingram could be the next Emmit Smith, he has great balance and vision. If he doesnt become Emmit he could end up like Cardinals running back Bennie Wells, Ingram is a game changer but the transition into the NFL might be hard like it was for Bennie wells.
  2. The number two running back in the draft is Mikel Leshoure from illinois. Mikel Leshoure Could be the next Rashad Mendenhall because of his ability he has to make cuts and accelerate afterwords. If he doesnt end up like Mendenhall he could being like Knoshawn Moreno, because hes not a powerful running back and tends to shy away from contact like Moreno.
  3. Next best running back coming out the draft is Kendall Hunter from Oklahoma St. Kendall Hunter could be the next Adrian Peterson because he runs with great vision and excels when he runs in between the takles the only thing he lacks is power. With his lack of power I can see him ending up like Ryan Grant, Hunter deals with injurys and stuggles in short yardage because of his lack in power.
  4. The Next Running Back on my Top 5 is Ryan Williams from Virginia Tech. Ryan Williams could be next elite power running back like Steven Jackson because of his great vision and the way he changes direction hes a pure Power Running back. Like Marion Barber, Williams could be only a goal line back because I dont see him being a featured back in the NFL.
  5. Rounding off my Top 5 is Demarco Murray from Oklahoma. Murray could be the next Chris Johnson out of this draft he doesnt have Johnson speed but his vision and cuts remind me of CJ. Murray could end up like Jahaid Best becasue of hes a Smaller size running back and hes prone to injury easily if he can stay healthy I really think Murray can be a game changer.

Hope Springs Eternal

Hi there APoV followers, my name is Nick Garcia. I'm Adam's older cousin. He asked me to be a guest columnist on his wonderful sports blog and I was more than happy to accept. Before i get into my first post I'd like to give you a little background on me. Like i wrote earlier I'm one of Adam's older cousins, I'm in love with every sport out there and as you'll soon find out, I'm very passionate about baseball. I've played baseball since I can remember, from little league to grade school on to high school and then into college. Most of my columns here will be about baseball, but i will occasionally write about other sports. Now i guess I can get to what you all came here to read, the sports blog.

HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL

For many people mid february is the greatest time of the year. Especially here in the state of Arizona. After a surprisingly cold winter the weather is just starting to warm up and there is hope around state, even the country. For millions of americans the hopes differ but there is one common end goal, that maybe this is our year. For example fans of the Giants are hoping that they can have the same if not greater success then they did last year when they beat the rangers to win the world series. While fans of Boston and Philadelphia have high hopes that their big money off season signings will pay off and be able to bring the title back to their respective cities. Or in the city of Chicago, the north side (cubs) is once again hoping and praying that their world series drought (102 years now!) will finally come to an end. Unlike the south side where the white sox hopes are much like boston and philly. but there are plenty of more teams that aren't in the same boat as those teams and are more worried about bouncing back from last season and to get out of the basement of their divisions. Our hometown D-backs drastically changed most of the roster to try and turn around one of their worst years. The Colorado Rockies hope that they can avoid their typical slow start and pair it with the red hot finish that they always seem to have. In Baltimore, the orioles had a great offseason in which saw them sign Derrek Lee, Vlad Guerrero, and trade for local fan favorite Mark Reynolds. They hope those signings plus the young emerging stars can lead them back to a respectable record in the brutal A.L. east. Simple to say that all these hopes can only mean spring training is here! Oh it also means the pittsburgh pirates are now officially eliminated from the playoffs :-)

Michael Vick given Franchise Player Tag

Hello, Sports world just wanted to give a brief introduction to who I am before I talk about Michael Vick. First, my name is Nathan Gomez also known as The Fantasy Guru; Im One of the Columnist on Adams Point of View. This is going to be my First Post on the Blog and I hope guys enjoy my posts and listen to my Fantasy Advice.

The Philadelphia Eagles put a franchise tag on the versatile quarterback Michael Vick for at least one more season. The Eagles will keep the 2010 Comeback player of the year by paying him roughly $20 million making him one of the five highest-paid NFL quarterbacks. Michael gave a very humble quote on NFL Networks "NFL Total Access" when he asserts, "I hate to re-live the past, I always want to move forward, but everything happens for a reason. Being a part of the Philadelphia Eagles, having the type of season I had, being around the type of players I've been around, and having the type of coaching I've had over the last year and a half has been destined." He's changed a lot from August 2007, when he was pleaded guilty to federal felony charges and served 21 months in prison. Now with Vick being franchise tag and waiting on a long-term contract agreement; What are the Eagles going to do with Kevin Kolb, the highly anticipated player coming into the 2010 season? Kolb was ready to take the Eagles to the promise land in the pre-season, but during week One, Kolb was tackled by Packers linebacker Clay Matthews, and sustained a concussion. Now with Kolb back and ready for the 2011 season he is on the trading block wait for a team to play for. Kolb has made it clear that he wants to be a starting in 2011, and I see a couple of teams looking into trading for him, and they are The Cardinals and Seahawks. I see the Cardinals as the right fit for Kevin because of the slow pace style of play the cardinals run. In Philly Wide outs Jackson and Maclin are elite speed receivers; as in Arizona, Fitzgerald and Breaston are better possession receivers, Kolb should thrive in the Westcoast offense. The biggest factor I can see why the Cardinals should trade for Kolb instead of Drafting the Heisman Winner Cam Newton, is Experience. Thats what the Cardinals are lacking is a good experience QB. Kolb has backed up Mcnabb for years and Vick last year. While Kolb hasn't played in huge pressure situations, he has been a part of the Eagles for a few years and has been in the playoff atmosphere more than once. When the time comes when Kolb and the Cardinals have a chance to make the playoffs, he won't be scared out of his mind like many other quarterbacks are. Newton just doesn't fit the Cardinals offense they need a pocket passer, like Kurt Warner was, not a Speed Qb like Newton. Getting Kevin isn't going to be easy The Cardinals are going to have to give up there first round and possibly even a third round pick in the draft this year. I really think its worth it and The Cardinals fans shouldn't be mad at them if they end up doing so. Thats my take on Michael Vick's Franchise Tag its a lot more than just Vick. I want to hear what you guys Think about this please reply, Thank for the time.

Jerry Sloan Steps Down

Former head coach of the Utah Jazz Jerry Sloan stepped down today in the middle of his 23rd season with his only team the Jazz. Sloan apparently stepped down because Jazz PG Deron Williams refused to run the plays Sloan drew up. Jerry Sloan was inducted into the Hall of Fame last year, Sloan also won 1,127 games, no titles, and is the was the NBA`s longest-tenured coach. Do you think it was all Deron Williams fault he resigned? comment below to express your opinion.

Steve Nash

Steve Nash 13# Point Guard of the Phoenix Suns and future hall of fame inductee is such a nice guy for example he gave me a autograph last night when he seemed busy he reminds of Kurt Warner who is also a nice guy who gave me a autograph during a preseason game which is so rare to get. Steve Nash stands at 6 foot 3. Many people may see him as short on television but he is tall, if you meet him up close and personal you will know. Steve Nash is old school, also his birthday is coming up on February 7, he will be turning 37 years and is still one of the elite players in the NBA. If you also think he is such a nice guy than click like. Once again thank you Mr. Nash.

2011 NFL MOCK DRAFT - TOP 5

1. Carolina Panthers - Nick Fairley DT out of Auburn,  Nick Fairley can help replace that hole in the Panthers defense that  Julius Peppers left them with even though Fairley is a DT and Peppers is DE.

2. Denver Broncos - Da`Quan Bowers DE out of Clemson, Bowers has a lot of talent and he can help the Broncos defensive attack.

3. Buffalo Bills - AJ Green WR out of Georgia, Green has a lot of potential and can replace Stevie Johnson.

4. Cincinnati Bengals - Blaine Gabbert QB out of Missouri, The Bengals need a QB and this guy is a outstanding QB.

5. Arizona Cardinals - Cam Newton QB out of Auburn, The Arizona Cardinals badly need a QB and Cam is the next best QB in the draft. Thy are stupid if they don't draft him.

SUPER BOWL XLV

Super Bowl XLV is finally here and the two contenders are the Pittsburgh Steelers who have been here in 3 out the last 6 Super Bowls and the Green Bay Packers who have not been here since 1997 when they played John Elway and the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl XXXII when they were defeated. On feburary 6, 2011 the cheese heads will look to win underneath quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Big Ben is gonna try and lead the Steelers to a victory over Aaron Rodgers who has barely gotten his first playoff win this year and now his first Super Bowl appearance. The Dallas Cowboys stadium will host this years Super Bowl in such a luxurious stadium. I predict that the underdog Packers will beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 31- 27. Look out North Texas and Pittsburgh because here comes the Green Bay Packers. Who do you predict will win?

2011 NFL PLAYOFFS PICKS

So far we are in the semi-finals of the 2011 NFL playoffs. In the AFC the matchups are Ravens vs Steelers and the Patriots vs Jets. In the NFC its the Seahawks vs Bears and the Falcons vs Packers. I think the best matchup this week will be the Ravens vs Steelers game these teams have a lot of bad blood but I think the Ravens will edge out the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-28 Ravens. The next matchup will be the Jets vs Patriots the New York Jets defense will have to step up if they want to win. I think the Jets will upset the New England Patriots. The Jets will win on a field goal. The final score will be 38-35 Jets. Now to the NFC the Seahawks are the first team with a losing record to win there division. The Seahawks will replicate the 2008 Arizona Cardinals and SHOCK THE WORLD. I have the Seattle Seahawks to take this one against the Chicago Bears. They will come out shooting shock the Bears. Final Score 28-17 Seahawks. The last game is The Atlanta Falcons vs Greenbay Packers. Matty Ice will take this game easy in a 24-10 win Falcons. Matt Ryan will lead his team past the Packers. Who do you think will win?
